Blood Orange Cupcakes

Blood Orange Cupcakes

December 15, 2020

Often kids get the short end of the stick when it comes to our Blood Orange Brew Free! or Die IPA, but we figured we should help the little buggers out this holiday and create a recipe the whole family can enjoy. Just enough zest to counter that sweet, while the beer keeps the cake moist and fluffy. So help yourself to a pint and whip up some deliciousness.

For the cupcakes:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup plain yogurt
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • Zest of 2 small blood oranges
  • 1/2 cup Brew Free Blood Orange IPA

For the frosting:

  • 16 ounces cream cheese, at room temperature
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, at room temperature
  • Zest of 1 small blood orange
  • 2 teaspoons orange liqueur
  • 1 cups powdered sugar, sifted

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit
  • Combine all cupcake ingredients and mix until smooth
  • Fill cupcake tins ¾ full. Bake in 350 degree oven for 25 minutes (or until toothpick can come out clean)
  • Let cool on a wire rack.
  • To make the frosting, combine all frosting ingredients with mixer
  • Transfer frosting into a piping bag and cut off the tip. Pipe a generous amount of frosting onto each cupcake
  • Enjoy!
